The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship Program at the University of Toronto is intended to recognize international students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and creativity and who are recognized as leaders within their schools.
A special emphasis is placed on the impact the student has had on the life of their school and community, and their future potential to contribute positively to the global community.
Each year, approximately 37 students will be named Lester B. Pearson Scholars and they will be undertaking the undergraduate programme offered at the University
The scholarship will cover tuition, books, incidental fees, and full residence support for four years.
Four prestigious need-and-merit-based awards are available through UBC’s International Scholars Program. UBC offers approximately 50 scholarships each year across all four awards.
Applicants won’t select which award they wish to receive when you submit your application the school will automatically consider you for the awards that you are eligible for.
Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award
This award recognizes international undergraduate students who demonstrate superior academic achievement, exceptional leadership skills, student affairs and community service involvement, and recognized achievement in other key areas.
Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award
This award recognizes outstanding international undergraduate students from impoverished or war-torn areas who have achieved academic excellence under challenging circumstances, and who would be unable to attend university without significant financial assistance.
International Impact Award
This award is offered to exceptional students who have expressed commitment to and solutions for social justice issues, climate change, equity and inclusion, societal health and wellness, and freedom of expression.
Vantage One Excellence Award
This award is offered by UBC Vantage College for academically outstanding international students who do not yet meet the English Language Admission Standard for direct admission to UBC. The awards range in value up to the full cost of a student’s academic program and living expenses.
York University International Student Scholarship Program
International students who have an excellent academic record and are admitted to York University are eligible for scholarships worth $60,000 – $100,000 for a four-year undergraduate degree program.
York University offers the Global Leader of Tomorrow Scholarships and the International Entrance Scholarships of Distinction specifically for international students who would like to take a full-time undergraduate degree at the University of York.
Any undergraduate degree program that begins in the Fall 2020 term under the following faculties: Arts, Media, Performance & Design; Environmental Studies; Education; Glendon; Health; Lassonde School of Engineering; Liberal Arts & Professional Studies; Science; or the Schulich School of Business
Two (2) Global Leader of Tomorrow Award worth $80,000 ($20,000 x 4 years) and two (2) International Entrance Scholarships of Distinction worth $140,000 ($35,000 x 4 years) are awarded yearly.
All scholarships awarded are renewable for three years of full-time undergraduate study, provided high academic standing is maintained in each academic year.
University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships
The Faculty of Graduate Studies offers more than $2 million in University Graduate Fellowships (UMGF) each year to full-time graduate students (Master’s and PhD) to recognize academic excellence. It is offered to students who have demonstrated superior intellectual ability and academic accomplishment.
The University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships (UMGF) are merit-based awards that are open to students of any nationality who will be registered as full-time graduate students (Masters or PhD) at the University of Manitoba. The fellowships are valued at $18,000 for PhD students or $14,000 for Master’s students for a 12-month period.
UMGF Master’s awards are valued at $14,000 per year for 12 or 24 months, up to a total of $28,000. UMGF Doctoral awards are valued at $18,000 per year for 12, 24, 36 or 48 months, up to a total of $72,000.
It applies to any graduate degree programs offered by the University (except those in the Faculty of Medicine and the Master of Business Administration – MBA).
Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarships
The scholarships are open to foreign nationals (with a preference for candidates from the developing world) who are applying to a doctoral program in the social sciences and humanities or registered full-time in the first or second year of such a program at a Canadian university.
Its annual value is up to $60,000 per scholar for a maximum of three years.
The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation scholarships provide $40,000 per year for three years; up to $20,000 per year for three years (as research and travel allowance), membership in a community of other Scholars, Mentors, and Fellows, all of whom are leaders and change-makers in their respective disciplines and sectors; and Leadership training from Mentors and Fellows. Up to 15 scholarships are awarded yearly.
Each year, the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation awards up to fifteen doctoral scholarships to Canadian and international doctoral candidates pursuing humanities and social sciences research.
Specifically one or more of the following areas: Human Rights and Dignity, Responsible Citizenship, Canada in the World and People and their Natural Environment
Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships
The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) was created to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and to establish Canada as a global centre of excellence in research and higher learning.
The scholarships are towards a doctoral degree (or combined MA/PhD or MD/PhD) at participating Canadian Universities. The scholarship is worth $50,000 per year for a duration of three years.
This scholarship is funded by the Canadian government for postgraduate international students.
A recipient of this award gets the opportunity to study at any Canadian University with Vanier CGS allocation. Without exception, the Vanier CGS is tenable only at the eligible Canadian institution that submitted the nomination.
PhD programmes (or combined MA/PhD or MD/PhD) in health research; natural sciences and/or engineering research; and social sciences and/or humanities research
An eligible doctoral program must include a significant research component that leads to the completion of a thesis, major research project, dissertation, scholarly publication, performance, recital and/or exhibit that is merit/expert-reviewed at the institutional level as a requirement for completion of the program.
Joint graduate research programs with a professional degree (e.g., MD/PhD, DVM/PhD, JD/PhD) as well as clinically-oriented programs of study, including clinical psychology, are also eligible programs if they have significant autonomous research component, as described above.
Number of Scholarships: Up to 166 scholarships are awarded annually.

McGill University Scholarships and Student Aid

University of Saskatchewan International Excellence Awards
